(FAQ) Frequently asked question about the Health Department

One of the major questions asked is: To what can we attribute the decline in quality health care experienced in church-managed hospitals?
• Reduced and erratic Government funding
• Reduced financial support from the church overseas
• Increased service demands as a result of deteriorating conditions in counter part government health facilities
• Inadequate local finances due to lack of viable health financing policies by the church and state
• Inadequate resource management capabilities
• Lack of church policies, articulating exactly the level and nature of affordable health care the church would like to offer, and how it intends to fund these services
• Lack of clearly defined target population for church health services
The preoccupation with the financial difficulties facing our Church health institutions has shaded and eroded the vision of traditional church health providers to many other health-related needs. Unhealthy effects of the declining economy need to be addressed more effectively namely;
• The increase and spread of communicable diseases such as TB exacerbated by the HIV/AIDS crisis,
• Breakdown of the structure supporting primary health care and preventative services.
• Poor municipal infrastructures, poor roads, disposable waste gathering and piling up on our streets and around homes. The list of environmental and economic causes of ill health and spread of disease is endless.
