Apostolic Nuncio to Zambia and Malawi has called on all the Religious to seek God above all things as they serve him.
His Excellence Archbishop Julio Murati said this at the solemn Eucharistic celebration of the silver Jubilee of Sr. Agnes Kaloza and Sr. Virginia Chanda of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Assisi on Saturday 9th May 2015 at Mary Immaculate Parish in Lusaka. “God calls who he wants when he wants; He calls the little ones in order to confront the strong. Whoever is called and listens to the irresistible voice of God leaves everything which for the world can be considered unimportant gain.” The Nuncio noted in homily.
“The sisters are celebrating their fiat to the Lord for the 25 anniversary in religious life. Like [the prophet] Jeremiah, about 25 years ago the sisters also heard in their innermost being this special call and mission for God and responded to it lovingly and generously,” Archbishop Murati said.

His grace further pointed out that during the 25 years, the sisters’ lives had not always been easy as they encountered ups and downs and trials and challenges at time even the feeling of giving up. “But like in the case of Jeremiah, God told them do not be afraid, for I am with you.  In the lives of people, the life of Jeremiah seems like a failure, life without much success. But God sees things differently,” the Nuncio further added.

Like St. Paul who affirmed his relationship with Jesus, the Nuncio said that the sisters had accepted the loss of everything and considered them rubbish only if they could have Christ.
“The love of Christ outweighs all the advantages of wealth, status, honour and positions. I believe that Sr. Agnes and Virginia is what they are celebrating today. You left everything to follow Jesus. About 24 years ago you left everything to become spouses of Jesus Christ,” he said. The Pope’s representative to Zambia and Malawi also encouraged the two sisters to continue listening to the voice of the good shepherd and remain united to him.

“Today, as you renew your commitment get back to the first love; be faithful as you have always been up to now, and until the end when the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords will give you eternal life,”  the Nuncio said. And the Nuncio has called on young ones to respond to God’s call generously. “If you hear the call of the Lord, respond to him with generosity. Let your choice be guided not by sentiments but by the powerful voice of God who calls everyone to the life of holiness,” The Nuncio said.

Present at the celebration was Bishop Charles Kasonde of Solwezi Diocese, Fr. Lambert, the Minister Provincial of the Friars Conventuals in Zambia and Malawi, a number of priests, religious men and women, and families of Srs. Agnes and Virginia.
