The Italian Catholic Bishops have given financial support for the renovation of a three in one Operating theatre at the Catholic Church run Monze Mission hospital in Monze diocese.
The Italy’s Bishops Conference supported the project to the tune of 46, 272 Euros while the Zambian government contributed about 45,000 US dollars.
And Monze Catholic Diocese Bishop Moses Hamungole has appealed to government to intervene in the statutory instrument number 103 of the laws of Zambia which requires church organisations pay taxes and other duty when clearing vehicles into the country.
Bishop Hamungole, who is also Zambia Episcopal Conference (ZEC) Bishop Director for Communication said the church has had struggles to clear a vehicle it received as donation from its partners.
Meanwhile, speaking during the commissioning of the Operating theatre which underwent renovations from 2013, Health Deputy Minister Dr. Chitalu Chilufya said Monze Mission hospital is a strategic institution in the health service delivery not only for the people of Monze but the entire Southern province region where it is located.
