And speaking at the same occasion, the Zambian government praised the Catholic Church for its contribution to nation building through its various projects in the education and health sectors. Vice President Inonge Wina said the Church has constructed many respectable learning and health institutions that have complemented those set up by the government. She also noted the Catholic Church’s contribution towards the cancelation of Zambia’s debts which had become impossible for the government to pay. “The Catholic church has continued to be a strong and reliable partner with government in not only the delivery of social services but also in advocating for integral development “she said. Ms. Wina further assured the Catholics that government listens to its voice even though at times it turns to be critical. Meanwhile Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) President Archbishop Telesphore Mpundu appealed to the church to work with the government of the day in developing the nation and spoke against tribalism and regionalism . His Grace also advised the faithful not to bring partisan politics in Church but practice it outside in the political arena.
