Bishop Kasonde

Zambia Catholic University with support from Missio-USA has launched an Agri-prenuership certificate course.

And speaking at the launch, ZCCB Bishop Director for Education, Rt. Rev. Charles Kasonde described the development as a huge milestone in the history of Zambia Catholic University and hoped that it will be sustained. Bishop Kasonde also noted that the University needs to partner with organisations of known repute in order to grow and expand its influence in the education of Zambian citizens. The ZCCB Bishop Director for Education further said that the program should translate into skills that would multiply fruits, repeated bumper harvest and well managed profit making firms run by the Church. And Livestock and Fisheries Minister Michael Katambo says: Agriculture has taken a key sector for government policy and intervention. Mr. Katambo has announced that to ensure economic stability and growth, government has strategized to develop a sustainable diversified and competitive agriculture sector in line with the 7th National Development Plan. Mr. Katambo said this in a speech read for him by Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Deputy Director Dr. Christine Yambayamba at the launch of Accelerated Agriculture Initiative Program (AIP) Certificate course in Sustainable Agri-prenuership by the Zambia Catholic University in Lusaka on Monday, 16th October, 2017. Mr. Katambo reiterated government’s call to diversify the economy from being a copper dependent to a more varied agriculture based as the country is positioned to become a more prosperous middle income country. He said that the attainment of middle income status by Zambia will only be realised if private institutions like the Zambia Catholic University and the Church at large partner with government.
